Is Nub right for my dog?
Nub is made for small dogs and puppies. At 38 mm it's about the size of a ping pong ball, so it fits a small mouth, and that also makes it too small for a bigger dog, who could swallow it. For a bigger dog, look at Zoom or Disco. If your little one shreds every toy in minutes, Nub isn't the right toy, and we'd rather tell you now. Play together, then put it away when the game is over.

Every ball in the toy basket is too big for your little one.
Small dogs want to chase too, and most balls are made for bigger mouths. That's where Nub comes in.
The ball won't fit in their mouth
Plenty of small dog owners tell us their dog would love a ball but can't pick one up. Nub is about as wide as a ping pong ball.
A few pounds of dog with a lot of chase
Small dogs can be fierce players. They want a toy that moves back, at a size that suits them.
Two or three little ones in one house
Someone always ends up guarding the toy. Nub comes in red and blue, so each dog can have their own.
Not sure about toys that move
Some small dogs are wary at first. Slow mode gives a gentle start, and you can dangle the rope tail until they're curious.
Nub isn't here to replace you. It's a helping hand for the evenings you can't keep up, and the rope tail keeps you part of the game.
It rolls, it chirps, and then it waits for the next round.
Nub plays in short rounds, and the rope tail lets you join in.
Switch it on and pick a mode.
One button picks fast, slow or interactive.
It chirps as it rolls.
The soft bird song plays in time with the rolling, so it sounds like something worth chasing.
It takes a break after five minutes.
Nub runs for five minutes, then waits for the next round, and it switches itself off after thirty quiet minutes.

What people ask before they order.
We read every comment under our videos, and these are the questions that come up most, with plain answers.
Will my dog tear it apart?
If your dog shreds every toy in minutes, Nub isn't the right toy, and we'd rather tell you now. Small dogs can be fierce, and a determined one can pull the rubber cover off, which stops the ball moving. Nub is built for chasing, not chewing. Play together and put it away when the game is over.
Is it the right size for my dog?
Nub is 38 mm, or 1.5 inches, and 62 g, about as wide as a ping pong ball. It's made for small breeds and puppies who find regular dog balls too big. For a medium or large dog it's too small, and they could swallow it. Zoom is tennis ball size, and Disco is our largest at 80 mm.
Is a battery safe in a dog toy?
Nub has a rechargeable battery inside, so it's for supervised play only, never for alone time. Check it before each game, and if the cover or any part comes loose, take it away and email us.
Is the bird sound loud or annoying?
No, it's a soft natural chirp, closer to a bird outside the window than a squeaky toy. It plays in time with the ball's movement and won't take over your living room.
How long does a charge last?
About 30 minutes on USB-C fills it up. Nub runs five minutes, then waits, and switches itself off after thirty quiet minutes to save the battery. If yours stops holding a charge, email us and we'll make it right.
What's the rope tail for?
Dangle it like a teaser to get your little one interested, or pop it off and the ball rolls faster. Either way, you're part of the game.
What if my dog is scared of it?
Some small dogs are unsure of anything that moves or chirps. Let yours sniff it switched off first, then start on slow mode and dangle the rope tail. Plenty of wary dogs come around within a few evenings. Still no interest within 30 days of delivery? Email us and the Happy Guarantee has you covered.
Why is it running slowly?
Hair and fluff can wind around the moving parts. Clear it away and Nub should run normally again. If it still won't move or charge, email us and we'll make it right.
How do I keep it clean?
Wipe it with a damp cloth. Nub doesn't open up, so keep it out of water. The rope tail pops off so you can reach every corner.
Will it work on carpet?
Yes. Nub runs in all three modes on every floor, thick carpet included.
Why not a $5 ball online?
We've seen those too. Here's what you get with Nub:
- 38 mm, sized for small mouths
- A soft bird chirp, in time with the roll
- Three play modes
- A cotton rope tail that pops off
- USB-C, about 30 minutes to charge

Small dogs deserve their own toys.
Nub made the cut because most dog balls are simply too big for a small mouth. It's sized for little dogs, it sounds like a bird, and the rope tail brings you into the game. Try it for 30 days, and if it isn't a hit, a real person is one email away.
