Will my dog actually figure it out?
Most dogs get the hang of it within a few minutes. The covers slide sideways instead of lifting up, which is the easiest move for a dog to learn, so there is nothing you need to teach first. Start with a few pieces sitting on top where he can see them, then hide the rest underneath once he works out what the board is for.
Does it slide around on the floor?
No. The base is non slip, so it stays where you put it on wood and tile while he pushes at it with his nose. That matters more than it sounds. A board that skates across the kitchen is a board most dogs give up on.
What can I put in it?
Regular dry food and small treats. Kibble, training treats and chopped up sausage all sit nicely in the wells. Large biscuits and chews are too big for them. Most owners use it at dinner time and tip the whole bowl in.
Can I leave him alone with it?
We would rather you did not. It is made from hard plastic and there is a squeaker inside the button in the middle, and a determined chewer will go for that button first. This one is for the time you are in the room with him, not for keeping him busy while you are out.
